The Andrews Labor Government is building a new roundabout in Daylesford to boost safety and access for motorists.
Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas today announced that Negri Contractors would build the new roundabout at the intersection of Midland Highway, Daylesford – Trentham Road and East Street.
The $1.3 million upgrade in Daylesford, will help to reduce the frequency and severity of crashes by slowing traffic approaching the intersection by ensuring drivers travel at a safe speed and improving visibility.
The roundabout will simplify the road layout and ensure safe and reliable travel for the 2,600 vehicles that use the road every day. It will also cater for increasing tourist traffic as the region’s popularity continues to grow.
There have been five serious crashes at this intersection over the last five years.
Construction is expected to commence in late May, with completion due in September.
Motorists are advised that minor delays may be experienced and reduced speed limits and traffic management will be in place during construction.
