NEW FUNDING TO SUPPORT MACEDON RANGES LIBRARIES

The Allan Labor Government is giving Macedon Ranges libraries a major funding boost, with the latest round of the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program set to invest in 18 libraries across the state.

All four Macedon Ranges libraries in Kyneton, Gisborne, Woodend and Romsey will benefit from $62,865, which will provide better access to library facilities and programs and increase community engagement with services.

Minister for Local Government, Nick Staikos today announced the recipients of $4 million in funding via the 2025-26 Living Libraries Infrastructure Program, at the current Glen Waverly Library, which received $1 million in funding for the construction of a new library within the Glen Waverley Civic Precinct.

Other projects to receive funding included:
· Major upgrades of libraries in Heidelberg West, Kew, Southbank and Glen Waverley
· New mobile library vehicles in Mansfield and Murrindindi
· Redeveloped meeting rooms in Kangaroo Flat and Portland
· Technology upgrades in Emerald and Pakenham, Mitchell Shire and Deans Marsh
· Facility improvements in Dimboola, Braybrook, Nunawading and East Gippsland
· Open access facilities at Glen Eira and Avondale Heights.

Since 2014, the Labor Government has invested $57.6 million into 176 different library infrastructure projects, with a combined end value more than $522 million.

The Living Libraries Infrastructure Program supports initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to local areas, and increase access to learning, participation and engagement with community libraries.
