Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas is calling out for young people interested in politics to undertake a placement at her Electorate Office in Gisborne.
Working within the communications team, the student will work on media releases and social marketing material as well as research policy areas that help shape advocacy for the Macedon region.
Ms Thomas has made the pledge as part of the 100 ways in 100 days campaign lead by the Central Ranges Local Learning & Employment Network. The aim is to find 100 ways to help young people transition from school to further education, training and employment.
Local businesses in the area are encouraged to join the campaign and make a pledge to help young people by hosting a student for a placement for one day a week, offering a traineeship or apprenticeship, or becoming a mentor.
Industry Engagement Manager at Central Ranges LLEN Carmel Veenstra says "Young people are about to face the biggest change to work in our time with 40-60% of jobs likely to be automated over the next 10 years. We can help them adapt by ensuring that they have the right information, skills and experiences to prepare them for work in the new economy."
"The 100 ways in 100 days campaign has been designed to make the outcomes for young people everyone’s business."
Students and businesses who would like more information on the placement, or the campaign should visit www.100ways.com.au
