MORE INVESTMENT FOR VETERANS AND RESPECT

The Allan Labor Government is investing more than $1 million to improve veteran facilities and preserve important sites of remembrance so more Victorian’s can pay their respects.

Minister for Veterans, Natalie Suleyman and Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas today announced successful recipients of two grant programs. The grants will support local government, ex-service organisations and community groups to deliver projects that honour the service of veterans and strengthen local communities.

This year, the Veterans Capital Works grant program will provide more than $760,000 to 18 organisations to up-grade or develop facilities used by veterans and their families.

The program funds building upgrades, accessibility works and enhancements to dedicated veteran spaces, ensuring they are welcoming, safe and fit for purpose.

Path of the Horse in Trentham will receive $43,166 to upgrade its facilities, enhancing support for veterans participating in equine-assisted programs. The project will strengthen the organisation’s ability to deliver meaningful therapeutic support and positive outcomes for veterans.

The Restoring Community War Memorials and Avenues of Honour 2025-26 grant program will provide more than $255,000 to fund 15 projects focused on conservation and restoration of war memorials.

Mt Macedon Memorial Cross Council for Commemorative Services will receive $30,000 to undertake urgent restoration works at the Mount Macedon War Memorial, addressing structural and heritage deterioration to help preserve this important memorial for future generations.

These projects will help protect significant community memorials while ensuring the stories of those who served continue to be recognised and shared with future generations.
