Labor government giving woodend sports clubs facilities they can be proud of

The Andrews Labor Government is getting on with the job of giving Macedon Ranges families more opportunities for sport and recreation.

Today, Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas turned on new lighting at the Woodend Bowling Club, opened the new multipurpose courts at Woodend Racecourse Reserve, and unveiled the refurbished Woodend Pony Club.

The Labor Government wants all Victorians to have easy access to outdoor activities and community sport, and is delivering the infrastructure to make it happen.

The Woodend Bowling Club becomes the first of its kind in the Macedon Ranges to be fully lit, meaning the community can spend more time amongst the action out on the green – day or night. The Labor Government has contributed $28,850 towards the upgrade.

Improved lighting at Woodend Racecourse Reserve means more opportunities for night competitions and longer training sessions on the new multipurpose courts. The Government’s $59,000 investment included competition-standard lighting, new goal posts, drainage and resurfacing.

And, the Woodend Pony Club has more space to welcome new members and aspiring young riders. The Labor Government has contributed $50,000 towards the arena upgrade.

Labor is listening to grassroots clubs and organisations, who say they need more space for sport to cater to growing demand. Community want safe, modern facilities, and that’s exactly what the Government is delivering.

The projects were funded in partnership with the Macedon Ranges Shire Council and the local community.
