Kyneton community park open for all

The Kyneton Community Park, situated within the town’s heritage listed Botanic Gardens, is providing residents and visitors with a new place to gather, catch up with friends and family, explore the interactive playground, and appreciate the history of the town.

Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas today opened the completed project, which has revitalised an under-used open space within the Kyneton Botanic Gardens Reserve.

Macedon Ranges Shire Council delivered the $945,000 project with $300,000 funding support from the Victorian Government and $500,000 from the Federal Government.

The project has delivered a vibrant, healthy and accessible nature-based environment where people can picnic, gather, celebrate and relax.

The Park’s design reflects the area’s history and includes themed interactive spaces focussing on Kyneton’s agricultural history, local mineral springs, the Campaspe River and the Kyneton Botanic Gardens.

As part of the project, new drainage, power infrastructure, pathways, landscaping and water features have also been installed.

The park is set to become a new regional attraction that will encourage more visitors to Kyneton and give them another reason to spend time in the region. It will also support a range of community and special events in the future.

The project was made possible through a strong collaborative partnership between the State, Commonwealth and Local governments, and the Kyneton community.

Quotes attributable to Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas
"I’d like to congratulate the women from the Kyneton community who have made this project possible through an exceptional combination of expertise, timing and sustained community action over several years.

This is a great story about a group of individuals who refused to give up on a vision for their community.

It is due to their work that we are standing here today"
