The Allan Labor Government and the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) are recognising 316 grassroots football and netball clubs to share in $700,000 to drive down speeding in their community.
The clubs will receive up to $10,000 through the program, which is delivered in partnership with AFL Victoria, and encourages clubs to engage with players, members and their communities on key road safety issues and to promote safe behaviours on the road.
Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas congratulates the following sports clubs for showing their support for road safety throughout the year, including taking part in the TAC’s Road Safety Round:
- Kyneton Football Netball Club on receiving a grant of $1,650
- Riddells Creek Junior Football Netball Club on receiving a grant of $1650
- Lancefield Junior Football Netball Club on receiving a grant of $1,000
- Macedon Football Netball Club on receiving a grant of $500
- Woodend Hesket Football Netball Club on receiving a grant of $7,500
- Romsey Junior Football Netball Club on receiving a grant of $2,700
- Gisborne Giants Football Netball Club on receiving a grant of $2,100
As part of this year’s program, clubs were asked to start conversations and be part of the campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of speeding, with the tagline – ‘Be the Difference’.
This grant can be used for a range of initiatives including education programs, club transport initiatives, new equipment and uniforms.
