The Allan Labor Government is partnering with the Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival to present a Community Open Day at the Old Kyneton Primary School, providing the public with a first look inside the redeveloped site.
Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas today announced the newly upgraded site will be open to visitors on Sunday 14 September as part of the final day of festivities of the popular Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival.
Visitors will be able to see and experience the site’s newly renovated spaces while enjoying family-friendly activities including amusements for children, a petting zoo, performances and artist showcases.
Backed by a $12 million investment from the Labor Government, the Old Kyneton Primary School project has restored the school’s heritage bluestone building, creating a space for art, creativity and community, and built a new contemporary central building to provide a welcoming entry for visitors.
The former library has also been transformed, now suitable for a range of community and creative uses while the school’s grounds have been revitalised with landscaping, including 3000 new plants.
The Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival will be the first event to bring these new indoor and outdoor spaces to life.
An Expressions of Interest (EOI) process is currently underway for a head tenant/operator for the historic site.
Proposals are sought from parties with a compelling vision and suitable experience to shape a thriving hub in the heart of Kyneton, including those that will provide opportunities for Kyneton’s creative industries, community groups and local businesses, and complement and enhance Kyneton’s tourism offering.
Expressions of Interest close on Monday 29 September 2025. Information is available at creative.vic.gov.au
