The Allan Labor Government is continuing to support accessible, affordable healthcare in local communities by making the successful Community Pharmacist Pilot a permanent Program.
The Community Pharmacist Program which has made it easier for Victorians to get treatment for common health conditions at their local pharmacy, will become an ongoing, statewide service.
Minister for Health, Mary-Anne Thomas visited Woodend Pharmacy this week to see how the expanded program is helping the local community.
Under the expanded program:
Pharmacists will continue offering services to treat UTIs, skin conditions, the resupply of oral contraceptives, and the range of vaccines treatments first introduced through the pilot.
Over the next two years, up to 22 health conditions and well-being services will be available through community pharmacies.
Most consultations will remain free, to ensure services remain accessible.
These changes are part of the Government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening primary care, reducing pressure on GPs, and improving health access across Victoria.
This program means more support for our pharmacists, less waiting for patients, and better outcomes for everyone. It’s another example of how the Allan Labor Government investing in smarter, more local healthcare.

“It just makes sense to be able to pop down to your local pharmacy to get treatment for everyday conditions and basic health care needs, and our pilot program is helping thousands of women do just that.”
