BIG BOOST FOR SMALL BUILDING PROJECTS AT NEWHAM PRIMARY SCHOOL

The Allan Labor Government is ensuring Victorian students have access to the outstanding learning environments they deserve by funding more small-scale upgrades to schools across the state.

Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas today announced Newham Primary School is one of 43 successful schools that will share in $13.8 million for a range of small-scale refurbishments, such as bathroom, playground and sporting oval upgrades through the Capital Works Fund.

The fund supports projects that upgrade the condition, character or inclusiveness of Victorian schools.

Newham Primary School will receive $323,717 to refurbish the students’ toilets. The Victorian Budget 2025/26 includes an extra $25 million for the fund, helping more schools deliver essential works including $9.2 million for toilet upgrades at 21 schools across the state.

Since 2024, 122 schools have gained grants from the $50 million invested in the Capital Works Fund.

The Labor Government has invested more than $18.5 billion to build new schools and upgrade more than 2,300 existing ones – supporting more than 30,000 jobs in construction and related industries.
