A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR SOCCER IN HEPBURN

Hepburn United soccer players can now take their game to the next level thanks to new pitch lighting at Victoria Park in Daylesford - backed by the Victorian Government.

Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas, joined representatives from Hepburn Shire Council and the Daylesford and Hepburn United Soccer Club to officially switch on the new lighting made possible by an almost $270,000 investment from the Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.

Up until recently, the almost 180 members of United teams were limited in their capacity to train and compete due to poor lighting. Works at the sports ground have installed 100 lux LED lighting around the soccer pitch giving Daylesford and Hepburn United players more time to perfect their game. The new lights will also help the club host night games as well as expand on United’s teams and development programs.

The Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund is part of more than $2.4 billion invested by the Victorian Government in community sports infrastructure since 2014.

The Victorian Budget 2026/27 is also providing more than $24 million to support the development of high-quality, accessible community sports infrastructure across the state, including through the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

Mary Anne Thomas MP acknowledged Hepburn Shire Council for its more than $45,000 contribution to the project and the club for its contribution of $20,000.
