New heavy tanker for woodend fire brigade

A new heavy tanker will respond to fires and other emergencies in Woodend and surrounding areas, providing a major boost to firefighting services to the region.

Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas, officially handed over the new tanker to Woodend Fire Brigade members today.

The appliance cost $420,000 and has been funded through the CFA’s Planned Vehicle Replacement Program.

These vehicles have a number of benefits, including:

pump controls in the cabin, deck and rear of the pumper capacity to transport five crew members a bullbar-mounted electric monitor key safety features, including an internal roll cage and 750 litres of water for crew protection.

The Woodend Fire Brigade has received 94 callouts this year, with attention now turning to the approaching fire season.
