Contemporary arts event for kyneton

Labor Member for Macedon met with the Kyneton Contemporary committee on Thursday evening to congratulate them on receiving $19,500 for a Victorian Arts Grant to present an inaugural contemporary art triennial in Kyneton.

The latest round of the Andrews Labor Government’s VicArts grants will support the development of more than 30 new theatre, dance, music, visual arts and multimedia works, as well as international residencies and presentation opportunities for Victorian artists.

Kyneton Contemporary Art Triennial will be presented in April 2018, with artists exhibiting works throughout the town.

Co-Directors, Kent Wilson and Clare Needham said that the VicArts funding "will enable us to bring excellent ideas, artists and artwork to our hometown to inspire, educate and engage our local community and its visitors."

"Over the coming months we look forward to announcing the artists who will be spending time in Kyneton in the development of their work as they engage with the people, places and history of our town."

Sixty-two projects will receive funding, which will create opportunities for almost 900 of Victoria’s independent artists, and 350 professionals in technical, administrative and other support roles in creative fields.

For every one dollar invested by the government in this program, a further $2.50 is generated by the sector.
