Better mobile coverage for hepburn

Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas, today joined Telstra to celebrate the switching on of new mobile towers at Bullarto and Eganstown, which will increase mobile coverage in the area.

The towers were built under the Federal Government’s Mobile Black Spots Programme (MBSP), which has seen Federal and State Governments work with telecommunications companies to increase mobile coverage in regional Australia.

The Andrews Labor Government has invested over $33 million in 166 towers throughout Victoria since being elected in 2014.

Within the Hepburn Shire Council, the Victorian Government has funded six towers, with towers at Eganstown, Glenlyon, Leonards Hill and Bullarto now operational.

The Victorian Government has also funded four towers in the nearby Macedon Ranges and one at Blackwood in the Moorabool Shire.

Telecommunications infrastructure is crucial for the growth, liveability and safety of regional Victorian households and businesses.

The Andrews Labor Government has a further $11 million allocated to eradicating mobile black spots and is working with Regional Partnerships, councils and Emergency Management Victoria to decide where this money is most needed to keep regional communities safe.

The Labor Government is improving connectivity in regional Victoria by delivering better coverage for commuters on regional rail with the $45 million Connecting Regional Communities Program.
