In the lead up to the 2014 state election, Labor recognised the need to protect the unique natural environment and rural character of the Macedon Ranges from inappropriate development.
In 2015, following a public planning forum held in Gisborne, the Minister for Planning, Richard Wynne announced an independent Ministerial Advisory Committee would be established to determine the best way to ensure planning protection for the Macedon Ranges.
Terms of Reference were established an independent Advisory Committee comprising four planning experts have been appointed.
Following the release of an Issues Paper, the Advisory Committee is now accepting written submissions from individuals and community organisations.
