Statement – romsey group headquarters

Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas, today committed to doing all that she can to halt the sale of the Romsey Group Headquarters unless a solution is found that is both satisfactory to the group and ensures consistency of service to the community.

Quotes attributable to Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas
"I’m very concerned about moves to relocate the Romsey Group Headquarters without proper consultation about where the Group will go.

I have sought clarification from the Minister for Emergency Services, listened to the concerns of the Romsey Group and will continue to advocate on their behalf.

I am pleased to report that the sale of the existing facility will not occur unless a solution is found that is both satisfactory to the Group and ensures consistency of service to the local community.

In the meantime, I will continue to work closely with the Group and the local community and look forward to sitting down with our local brigades, the Romsey Group leadership and the CFA to sort through these issues.

The Romsey Group of Fire Brigades has provided an excellent service to the Romsey community and the broader district and it’s unacceptable that consideration of the group’s future is taking place without proper communication with volunteers on the ground."
