School building boom continues in gisborne

Families in the south of Gisborne are a step closer to getting the state-of-the-art schools they deserve, with works continuing on the new Willowbank Primary School, one of 14 new schools to open across Victoria in 2022.

Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas MP, today toured the works at the new Willowbank Primary School, which will open its doors on day 1 of Term 1 2022.

The new school will cater for 475 students and feature an administration building, including a library, art, food and science learning spaces, a performing arts and physical education building, two learning neighbourhoods and a sports field.

Families can view Willowbank Primary Schools 2022 zone by visiting www.findmyschool.vic.gov.au, details on how to enrol in the school to be released later this year, with the inaugural school principal anticipated to be appointed in Term 3 2021.

In delivering the Labor Government’s commitment to build kindergartens on-site or next door to new school sites, local parents will have access to a two-room kindergarten which will be co-located with Willowbank Primary School and is also due to open in 2022.

In the past five years, the Labor Government has invested more than $9 billion in more than 1,600 school upgrades – creating more than 10,000 construction jobs – and is now ahead of schedule of its commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026, with 48 new schools opening between 2019 and 2022.
