Romsey to shine with main street makeover

Romsey’s streetscape has been officially upgraded to create an attractive and more appealing environment for visitors and locals alike thanks to funding from the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas, today officially opened the upgraded Main Street which has been delivered with a $400,000 investment from the Labor Government.

The project supported six full-time equivalent jobs during the construction phase and it is expected that the renewed centre of town will create opportunities for business growth.

The upgrade of Main Street has delivered:

safer pedestrian access improved amenity and visitor experiences upgraded lighting in key locations upgraded historical and interpretive information and signage landscaping and street furniture including seating and bicycle facilities.

Alongside increased economic benefits and local employment opportunities from the project, it will also help build civic pride and community wellbeing.

Macedon Ranges Shire Council contributed $150,000 and managed the successful delivery of the project.

The project was supported by the Government’s Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund which invests in initiatives that make regional Victoria a better place to live, work, and do business.
