Refurbished daylesford station opens

The refurbished Daylesford Station has officially opened, allowing the historical railway and community market to continue.

Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas today announced the completion of works to refurbish historical Daylesford station.”It was fantastic to join the Daylesford community today to celebrate the completion of works on its station building.” Ms Thomas said.

The $90,000 refurbishment was a collaboration between VicTrack and the Daylesford Spa Country Railway and includes a new roof, rewiring and repainting of the station’s interior.

The Daylesford Spa Country Railway also funded a new ticket box to look like the original ticket box in the station.

The refurbished station means that the tourist railway can continue to operate over the coming decades, preserving Victoria’s rail history for future generations. Ms Thomas said, "Today’s refurbishments mean that the historical railway and community markets will continue for years to come."

The Daylesford Spa Country Railway runs heritage trains every Sunday between Daylesford, Musk and Bullarto, and leases the surrounding land for a weekly Sunday market.
