Paramedics arriving in macedon ranges emergencies faster than ever before

Ambulances are arriving at code one emergencies in the Macedon Ranges faster than ever before thanks to our hard-working paramedics and a suite of investments by the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Ambulance Services Jill Hennessy today joined Member for Macedon, Mary Anne Thomas MP paramedics at Point Cook to release the June quarter ambulance data, which shows ambulances are once again arriving at emergencies faster.

The latest statewide data shows 83.8 per cent of all Code 1 urgent ambulances are arriving at emergencies within 15 minutes, and arrive within an average 11:12 minutes of being called out – 38 seconds faster than the previous 12 months and 2.41 minutes faster than under the Liberals.

In the Macedon Ranges Shire, 65.2 per cent of ambulances are now arriving at Code One emergencies within 15 minutes, compared with 63.4 per cent the year prior.

This means the average time an ambulance is taking to reach the scene of a Code One emergency in Macedon Ranges over the same period has improved by nearly 54 seconds.

The Labor Government inherited an ambulance system left in crisis by the former Liberal Government, who cut a billion dollars from health and went to war with paramedics.

Our $500 million plan to fix their mess is employing 450 new paramedics, getting more cutting-edge vehicles on the road and building more safe and modern ambulance stations around the state.

Reforms introduced by the Labor Government ensure ambulances are better equipped to prioritises Code 1 call outs, so the most seriously ill and injured people get the care they need, faster.

The data shows Ambulance Victoria attended 66,866 Code 1 call-outs in the June quarter, up from 65,438 the year prior.

It also shows 86.7 per cent of patients arriving by ambulance were transferred into hospital care within 40 minutes for the June quarter – up on 85.1 per cent in the previous three months – and more than half had been formally handed over into the care of the doctors and nurses within 19 minutes.
