New command vehicle for macedon cfa

CFA volunteers in the Macedon area will share in more than $9.3 million in grants for the equipment, trucks, and facilities they need to keep Victorians safe.

The Andrews Labor Government recently announced the recipients of the 2016-17 Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program.

Under the program, the government commits $2 for every $1 raised by volunteer groups to help them buy additional trucks, tankers, watercraft and trailers, and carry out minor facility upgrades.

Mary-Anne Thomas said the local CFA volunteer brigades in the Macedon electorate would receive a total of $218,134 to replace ageing equipment, provide specialist cool climate clothing, improve work amenities and boost support for brigades.

This includes $53,333 for the Gisborne CFA for a fire station extension and $47,333 for the Macedon CFA for a new field command vehicle. CFAs in Glenlyon, Musk, Leonards Hill and Franklinford also received funding through the program.

The $9.3 million package also includes more than $2.8 million for a state-wide initiative to improve the safety and wellbeing of volunteer firefighters.

The Victorian State Emergency Service, Life Saving Victoria and Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association were among the other organisations to receive grants under the almost $13 million program. In addition to the VESEP program the Labor Government has invested tens of millions of dollars since it came to government in new CFA trucks, station rebuilds and upgrades, and new training facilities.
