New car parks on the way for clarkefield station

Works have kicked off to build more than 75 sealed car parks at Clarkefield Station, providing relief for locals who struggle to find a park.

Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas, visited the station today to announce the start of early service investigation works ahead of the full car park upgrade starting later this month.

The upgrade will feature CCTV and lighting to improve safety and includes improved accessible parking and pedestrian access to better connect people to the station platforms.

During the works, the existing unsealed area to the south east of the station will be closed.

Station users are encouraged to plan ahead and consider alternate parking arrangements or use alternate stations.

The Clarkefield Station upgrade is part of the Andrews Labor Government’s $22.5 million Road and Rail Minor Works Program, being delivered by VicTrack.

The Labor Government is improving access to busy stations by delivering more than 900 new car parks, better bicycle storage facilities and new bus shelters across regional Victoria.

The Labor Government has also installed a new, heated platform shelter at Macedon station and work is underway to upgrade the station with 110 car parks, as well as 195 spaces at Woodend, which will be completed in coming weeks.

Works at Clarkefield Station are expected to be complete in November 2018.
