New art room for new gisborne primary school

Thanks to the efforts of the local community and the Andrews Labor Government, students at New Gisborne Primary School now have an art room to be proud of.

Staff and students from New Gisborne Primary School have been waiting for a functional art room since June 2011, when fire destroyed their much loved and well used Art Room.

Today, Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas visited the school to fulfil a pre-election commitment by officially opening the new purpose built facility.

Ms Thomas also took time to acknowledge the tremendous campaign that was led by parents of the school to ensure their children had the facilities they deserved.

The $772,000 redevelopment of the Art Room at New Gisborne Primary School is just one of hundreds of school upgrades happening across the state.

The Andrews Labor Government is building the Education State so that every Victorian student gets the opportunity for a great education and every community has access to a great school.

Quote attributable to Mary-Anne Thomas MP
"This is not just an art room, this is a success story of a government listening to a grass-roots community campaign led by parents to ensure their kids were not overlooked."

"After four years of inaction under the previous government, New Gisborne Primary School has finally had its much-loved art room replaced."

"The staff, leadership and learning opportunities at New Gisborne Primary School are first class, and I am proud to say that now the school will have art facilities to match."
