Name change for kyneton school to celebrate proud history, exciting future

A Kyneton School has reclaimed its original name as it moves toward a new era of providing a first class education for local students.

Minister for Education James Merlino approved a request for the former Kyneton Secondary College to restore its original name – Kyneton High School.

The school council requested the change in consultation with the school and broader Kyneton community, noting the historical significance of the Kyneton High School name, and the school’s renewed mission to provide a great local education for its students – with new learning facilities and training partnerships with local businesses.

The Andrews Labor Government has supported Kyneton High School’s mission with the delivery of a $10.9 million upgrade project in May.

The upgrades included modernisation works for Building 2 to create a new learning centre for Year 7 and 8, a new library and trades hub.

The trades hub provides learning areas for specialist trades – such as automotive, engineering and construction – and flexible workshops to support vocational education.

The Labor Government is delivering on its promise to Kyneton students to give them the great local school they deserve.

The Labor Government has invested $5.6 billion to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades and supporting over 7,500 construction jobs for Victorians.

Under the Labor Government’s school building boom, a total of 100 new schools will open by 2026, ensuring every child can access a great local school and get a great start in life.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and get a great education.
