Labor to upgrade trentham aged care services

Trentham Hostel & Aged Care will receive a $234,000 Andrews Labor Government grant to carry out refurbishments that will improve facility amenity and resident quality of life.

Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas MP, today announced that Hepburn Health’s Trentham Hostel & Nursing Home was among 24 rural public sector residential aged care facilities to share in $8 million from the Government’s 2015/16 Significant Facility Refurbishment Initiative.

The initiative funds vital refurbishments that will assist older people in rural and regional Victoria access the high quality public aged care services they deserve, close to home and the communities they helped build and support.

Refurbishments will help facilities meet contemporary standards, as well as providing better and safer living and working environments that enhance resident wellness, socialisation, privacy and dignity.

Upgrades will also assist rural public sector aged care facilities to be sustainable into the future.

Hepburn Health in Trentham will receive $234,000 to upgrade facilities at Trentham Hostel & Nursing Home. This project will improve amenity, safety and quality of life for residents. Funding will provide overhead tracking in 17 rooms; widening of doorways; replacement of fixed furniture; installation of two touch doors to outdoor areas; and an extension of the lounge room in the nursing home for greater socialisation between residents.

In addition to the $8 million for refurbishments, the Labor Government is also providing $1.45 million in grants for specialist care equipment and nurse training at all public sector residential aged care facilities, with approved high care places across Victoria
