Gisborne station gets first car park boost

The Andrews Labor Government’s upgrade of the Gisborne Station car park is complete, delivering 40 new sealed spaces for passengers.

Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas announced the completion of the project today, which will make it quicker and easier for people to drive to the station and catch the train.

New lighting, line markings, CCTV and signage have been installed to make the car park safer and easier to use for passengers, while the site has also been improved with further landscaping works.

Gisborne Station car park is the first of 16 across the state that will be upgraded through the Labor Government’s Station Car Park Upgrades Program. The $20 million will deliver more than 2,100 extra parking spaces at the regional and metropolitan train stations – where they are needed them most.

"The Andrews Labor Government is committed to improving public transport for our regional communities. Along the Bendigo line, we have added 38 new services, 500 new car parks, as well as secure bike cages and safer crossings for people who walk and ride to the station" said Ms Thomas.

The Labor Government will also add 18 new services every week for Gisborne passengers as the new V/Line timetable that begins on 27 August.
