Gisborne library refurbishment open

The Victorian Government continues to invest record funding into Victoria’s libraries and support learning centres under the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.

Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas, opened the refurbished Gisborne Library today on behalf of the Minister for Local Government, Marlene Kairouz.

The Victorian Government partnered with the Macedon Ranges Shire Council to deliver the $486,000 renovation, providing $364,000 towards the improvements from the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.

The refurbishment of the library included the creation of a new courtyard, providing additional space for library activities, the removal of a dividing wall to increase indoor floor space and improve access, installation of bay windows with inbuilt seating to increase seating capacity, the replacement of unused alcove doors with large windows and new carpet.

The Gisborne Library is now a more open and welcoming experience for library members and has provided much-needed room for program delivery and informal use.

The Victorian Government has invested more than $18 million into 59 infrastructure projects through the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program, worth a collective $154 million.

The program helps Victorian councils and regional library corporations provide high quality infrastructure to meet their community’s changing needs.
