Funding boost for kyneton cfa firefighters

CFA brigades in Kyneton and surrounding areas have received a $110,000 funding boost from the Andrews Labor Government to help them protect local communities.

Minister for Emergency Services James Merlino and Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas today visited the Kyneton Fire Station to switch on a new $23,000 back-up generator.

The Kyneton station is the central meeting point for the wider Kyneton Group meaning that the Carlsruhe, Nemloch, Malmsbury, Tylden, Spring Hill, Pastoria and Benloch brigades will benefit from the new generator.

Mr Merlino also handed over the keys to a 2017 Toyota Hi-Lux Double Cab to members of the Malmsbury Fire Brigade. The brigade was allocated $59,000 towards the purchase of the brand new vehicle.

Other local projects funded through the scheme include remote lighting and torches and an upgrade to an appliance toolkit for Kyneton Brigade totalling $10,000.

The Tylden Brigade received a boost of $20,000 towards the acquisition of a thermal imaging camera, new torches and remote work lights. Carlsruhe Brigade will receive new firefighting nozzles and fittings.

They are among a number of projects recently funded through the Emergency Services Volunteer Sustainability Grants Program. CFA brigades and other volunteer groups right across Victoria are receiving vital upgrades and brand new equipment to help them keep communities safe.

This year’s Emergency Services Volunteer Sustainability program provided 866 grants to organisations including CFA, VICSES, Australian Volunteer Coast guard, Life Saving Victoria, Red Cross, Ambulance Victoria, St John Ambulance and other emergency management organisations.

This latest round of funding is providing 326 grants across Victoria totalling $5.6 million. Marry-Anne Thomas said "Kyneton Fire Brigade has been protecting the community for more than 130 years and I am pleased that these grants are supporting local volunteer brigades to continue their excellent work."
