First lancefield renewal projects now open

The first two Lancefield Park renewal projects have been completed following the delivery of a new tractor and the opening of an upgraded playground.

Keys to a new tractor were handed over to the Lancefield Park Committee of Management today, improving safety and comfort while reducing mowing times.

The maintenance of the grassed areas and ovals at Lancefield Park is managed by volunteers. The previous tractor was old and no longer serviceable, meaning the Committee relied on the generosity of local farmers to provide tractors and equipment.

Lancefield Park’s playground has also been upgraded with the installation of new equipment, including a double flying fox basket swing, climbing cube and wave slide.

The new tractor and the playground upgrade are two of the seven priority projects funded from the $800,000 Lancefield Renewal Projects initiative.

The Lancefield Park Committee of Management contributed an additional $15,000 for the tractor and $20,000 for the playground upgrade.

There are five remaining projects under this funding: a new skate board and BMX track, resurfacing of the main oval, cricket clubroom refurbishment, netball/tennis courts resurfacing and a new security fence and outdoor area for the bowls club.

Lancefield Park is a multi-use area that includes a number of sporting facilities with 17 user groups.
