Construction underway on woodend primary school upgrade

Students at Woodend Primary School are a step closer to having the facilities they need, with construction of a $2 million upgrade underway.

Mary-Anne Thomas today visited the school to announce the commencement of construction on the project.

The $2 million project includes a refurbishment and conversion of the multipurpose room to a physical education facility, the construction of a new music centre and extensive redevelopment and landscaping works of the outdoor areas, completely revamping these spaces.

The project, designed by Williams Ravi Architects, has enlisted Riddells Creek construction company Raysett Construction, who expect over 25 local jobs will be created across construction, painting, landscaping and concreting.

The Andrews Labor Government is building the Education State so that every Victorian student gets the opportunity for a great education and every community has access to a great school.

The project is part of a $2.5 billion investment by the Labor Government to improve classrooms, upgrade facilities and build new schools across the state.

This school building boom has created more than 1,000 school upgrades and 56 new school projects across the state, supporting almost 5000 construction jobs to ensure all Victorian families have access to a great school no matter where they live.
