Trentham families will soon have access to more kinder placements and better early childhood learning facilities, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas, today announced that construction on the $668,435 Trentham Kindergarten project has commenced.

The project is to upgrade the existing Trentham Kindergarten to improve the quality of the learning environment, and provide access for children of all abilities to three and four year old kindergarten.

It will provide additional long day care places that are integrated with kinder as well as providing facilities to meet future demand for kinder and other early childhood services.

The Andrews Labor Government provided $305,000 to the project as part of the 2018-19 Children’s Facilities Capital Program Major Grants, while Hepburn Shire Council has contributed $363,435 towards the centre.

Construction is expected to finish in July.

The Labor Government will invest more than $1.6 billion over the next decade to build approximately 785 new kinders and expand 170 existing services.

The is part of a $5 billion plan to ensure every Victorian child has access to at least five hours of subsidised three-year-old kinder by 2022, progressively scaled up to 15 hours per week over the next decade.

This will be the largest social, economic and educational reform ever undertaken in early childhood learning in Victoria’s history.
