Building the education state brick by brick in macedon

Students across the Macedon electorate will benefit from over $2,700,000 in new upgrades, giving them the first-rate facilities they need to get a great education.

The Andrews Labor Government is making sure every child gets the very best start in life, building and upgrading a record number of Victorian schools.

The upgrades are part of a $685 million investment, outlined in the Victorian Budget 2017/18, and will go to improving classrooms, upgrading facilities and building new schools across the state. Ms Thomas said "Having visited each of these schools recently, I can tell you they are committed to making their schools the best they can be. This funding will help them to achieve that, and make their classrooms and schools focussed and engaging places to learn."

$195 million will go towards upgrading and modernising 59 regional schools and 49 metropolitan schools. The projects include new classrooms, STEM facilities, gymnasiums and playgrounds. "Our students deserve first-rate facilities. These upgrades will make a real difference to them, their teachers and the wider community." Ms Thomas said.

Across the Macedon electorate this will mean upgrades to six primary schools:

Mount Macedon Primary School – $472,000 Bolinda Primary School – $90,000 Darraweit Guim Primary School – $64,000 Taradale Primary School – $281,000 Gisborne Primary School – $1,628,000 Elphinstone Primary School – $221,000 Works will target facilities that need it most, ensuring that students learn in facilities that are commensurate with the delivery of modern education. The funding brings the Labor Government’s total investment in our schools to more than $2.5 billion, including over 1,000 existing school projects and 56 new schools.
