Boost for emergency volunteers in woodend

Victorian emergency management volunteers are getting a well-deserved funding boost thanks to the Victorian Government’s $15 million Emergency Services Volunteer Sustainability Grants program.

Hundreds of grant applications for equipment, communications, facility upgrades and community engagement and training have already been received from volunteer organisations across the state.

Last week Mary-Anne Thomas MP visited the Woodend branch of the Victoria State Emergency Service to congratulate them on their successful grant application of $24,300 which will allow them to upgrade the bitumen surrounding the station, as well as create a new outdoor training area. "This is an important investment in the VICSES and CFA Volunteers in Woodend, and I know it will assist them in doing the outstanding job they do in keeping the community safe," Ms Thomas said.

Woodend CFA also received $6,818 for shelving and lockers through the program. Gisborne SES, and CFA’s in Lancefield and Romsey were also successful in the latest round with a total contribution of $62,274 granted to emergency volunteers in the Macedon electorate.

These grants will assist emergency volunteers in Woodend in the crucial work they do in keeping the community safe. "The Andrews Labor Government is supporting the significant contribution of the more than 100,000 emergency management volunteers, investing in equipment, training and facilities to keep our communities safe." Ms Thomas said.

Applications for the ESVS Grants Program are still open and all eligible emergency volunteers are encouraged to apply. Organisations are eligible to apply for multiple grants.
