Better sports facilities for macedon’s women and girls

More women and girls will soon be kicking goals, hitting sixes and enjoying their favourite sport thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Sport John Eren joined Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas at the launch of the new multipurpose cricket training facility in Gisborne to announce upgrades to local sporting facilities.

$400,000 from the Community Sports Infrastructure Fund will go towards upgrading sport facilities in Gisborne, Kyneton and Malmsbury. This includes:

$100,000 to upgrade two courts at the Gisborne Tennis Club to synthetic clay and install court lighting $100,000 to upgrade the change rooms at Gardiner Reserve $100,000 for new pitch lighting at the home of Kyneton District Rangers Soccer Club, Barkly Square $100,000 to replace the practice nets at Malmsbury Cricket Ground and other club upgrades.

Every player deserves equal access to equal facilities. These grants will benefit everyone in the Macedon District, opening doors for locals to participate – especially women and girls.

Inspired by their WBBL, AFLW, W-League and Super League Netball heroes, women and girls are joining grassroots clubs like Kyneton District Soccer Club and Gisborne Football Netball Club in record numbers.

Gardiner Reserve is one of more than 100 projects to receive funding from the Community Sports Infrastructure Fund’s $14 million Female Friendly Facility fund.

So far the funding has delivered almost $10 million worth of projects across Victoria, helping more than 200 clubs transform ageing facilities and provide opportunities for everyone to get active.
