Better amenities for kyneton cemetery

Visitors to the Kyneton cemetery are now able to attend with comfort, thanks to a new public amenities block funded by the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas MP today officially opening the new facility, made possible by a $214,350 funding boost.

Cemeteries are not only a place to lay our loved ones are rest but also to remember our history. This new building also includes a new research room and a fireproof archive room.

In the latest round of cemetery grants, the Labor Government allocated $832,000 to projects across the State – most of them small rural cemeteries, to help provide much-needed new equipment or carry out maintenance projects.

Funding is provided to cemeteries to ensure that the final resting places of many of our loved ones are maintained in a welcoming and respectful manner.

The State’s cemeteries offer many unique insights into how Victoria has grown and developed.

The grants program helps volunteers who run Cemetery Trusts to maintain and improve cemetery facilities, so they can be enjoyed by many generations to come.

The general maintenance work, facility renovations and purchase or upgrade of essential equipment will help to ensure the cemetery grounds are safe for staff and visitors.

The grants recognise the support a cemetery gives to local communities, and the need to keep the facilities well maintained and make them as welcoming as possible.
