Architects appointed for kyneton education precinct

The Labor Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas today visited Kyneton Secondary College to hear about plans underway for the school’s Trades Hub, following the recent appointment of architects Gray Puksand to the $5 million project.

The Macedon Ranges Technical Training Hub (MRTTH) will address the training needs of students across the Macedon Ranges, provide apprenticeship level training for post-secondary students and run targeted programs for local primary schools and members of the community.

The $5 million facility will cater for Engineering, Building, and Construction, Automotive (small engine and general), Community Service, Hospitality & Food technology, Computer Aided Design, Robotics, Electronics and Welding.

Award winning educational architects, Gray Puksand were also appointed to develop the plans for the $11.5 million rebuild of Kyneton Primary School within the town’s education precinct on Edgecombe Street, which is expected to commence construction later this year.

In addition to more than $21.8 million of combined capital investment in the Andrews Government’s first state budget, Kyneton Secondary College and Kyneton Primary School are sharing in more than $190,000 needs based funding to target the students who need it most for the 2016 school year.

The investment is part of the Andrews Government’s commitment to making Victoria the Education State and is part of the $4 billion investment in education in the 2015 – 16 State Budget – the single biggest boost to education funding in Victoria’s history.

The Budget provided $325 million to renovate, refurbish or rebuild 67 schools – 25 of them in our fast-growing outer suburbs and 21 in regional Victoria.

It also includes $180 million for programs that will help families cover the extra costs of education, like camps, excursions and uniforms, so no child misses out.
