A safer crossing for the riddells creek community

Pedestrians, drivers and cyclists are set for a safer and easier journey with works underway to build new pedestrian lights in the heart of Riddells Creek.

Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas visited Riddells Creek today to mark the start of works on the $400,000 project that will make it safer and easier for those heading to the nearby shops, playground and train station.

Crews will remove an existing zebra crossing and install more visible pedestrian operated lights on the busy Gisborne-Kilmore Road and Main Road service lane.

This is in addition to a record maintenance program already rolling out across the region, an intersection upgrade underway in Gisborne and improvements planned for Romsey later this year.

Works will be carried out during the day with traffic management in place and speeds temporarily reduced to 40km/h.

Works will be completed by late May, weather permitting. Temporary lane closures are expected at times.
