Would you like to know how government works and decisions get made?

If you are between the ages of 16 – 22, then it’s time to apply for the Macedon Youth Council 2021!

The 2021 Macedon Youth Council will be made up of up to 12 young members selected from across the Macedon electorate, the group will meet five times over a year at various locations, including over Zoom and at Parliament House. The Council will bring together young people who are interested in taking a leadership role within our community.

The issues that were raised and explored as part of the 2019 council have been varied, but included local advocacy, single use plastics, political apathy, youth mental health, renewable energy and the process to Treaty with Aboriginal Victorians.

How to apply –

Applicants will need to address the following questions:

  1. What do you love about living in the Macedon electorate?
  2. Why do you want to be part of the Youth Council, and what issues are you most passionate about and why?
  3. In your opinion, what could be improved upon in our community and why?
  4. What personal attributes could you bring to the Youth Council?

Applications will be accepted via the application form here, or via a three-minute video addressing the application questions.

Applications have been extended until 8pm on Monday, 7 December 2020!
